Science and Advanced Technology
Envisioneering provides broadly-based multidisciplinary support of scientific research and advanced technological development for systems across the electro-magnetic spectrum. We have provided basic research and development, engineering and technical support for electronic warfare systems, directed energy research, counter-measures systems, electronic weapon systems research, and their transition to the operating forces. Envisioneering’s employees are valued and trusted experts and have a long-term commitment to developing the military’s future capabilities. We have advanced the science and technology and provided the underpinnings for the implementation of critical Electronic Warfare (EW) weapons systems for the U.S. Navy. Our staff includes veteran war fighters who are expertly familiar with naval operational requirements which are invaluable for developing systems that are crucial to accomplishing missions of a diverse nature.
Electronic Weapon Systems Research
Envisioneering's research and development work has covered a broad range of frequency bands from pulse power to conventional RF, to millimeter wave, to terahertz and laser optical bands. Our technological research provides underlying knowledge across the optical and microwave spectrum. Envisioneering's superb technical skills and our industry partners push forward performance and innovation in the fields of Directed Energy and Electronic Weapons Systems, and the use of these by operating forces in both an offensive and defensive postures.
Directed Energy Research
Envisioneering has supported directed energy research and assessed countermeasure and directed energy weapons systems for effectiveness and vulnerabilities. Both high power microwave and femtosecond pulse laser research tasks have been performed advancing the understanding of those technology areas. In several instances, Envisioneering has coordinated and worked closely with Government agencies to carry out experiments and enhance data exchange.
Electro-optical Sensors and Systems
Envisioneering regularly designs and builds specialized electro-optical (EO) and infrared (IR) devices. In addition, we fabricate a wide range of prototype and hardened hardware for various customers. These include optical, electronic, and mechanical components, equipment, and systems. We offer extensive experience in performing test support tasks at numerous Government laboratories, ranges, and test sites. We have provided support to design and fabricate mechanical, electrical, electronic, optical, and computer hardware for land, air, and ship platforms.
The Navy conducts numerous ongoing research and developmental efforts to better achieve and improve shipboard countermeasure effectiveness. For over 25 years we have successfully designed and implemented systems for the electronic warfare community. Envisioneering activities in this field span all aspects of the technology development process from preliminary exploitation efforts to operational testing of final countermeasure effectiveness. Such projects include many aspects of modern radio-frequency (RF) countermeasures approaches.
Electronic Warfare Systems
Envisioneering has a long history of experience with naval tactical warfare applications. As early as 1981, we published a report assessing EW techniques in support of system definition and testing against anti-ship cruise missiles. This technical support continues today with direct support to the surface electronic warfare improvement program (SEWIP), which is concerned with sophisticated changes to shipboard EW systems. There are three broad aspects to achieving these improvement goals. The first is devising new or upgraded EW hardware and software that would contribute to better performance, especially against newly-discovered threats.
